Ten Reasons Why We Love Costa Rica

Happy People– Costa Rica is known as the one of the happiest countries on Earth. It is a peace loving country without army presence since 1949. Wherever you go in Costa Rica you will be welcomed by smiles from the locals and an embracing

Pura Vida attitude that immediately makes you feel at home.

Warm Climate– Proximity to the equator makes for a fairly consistent and warm climate year around. There are two seasons, the dry season from December to April and the green season from May to November. Both seasons are filled with amazing beauty.

Costa Rica Beaches– There are many beautiful beaches in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica, the place where the mountains meet the sea. Wide and sparsely populated beaches are bordered by lush jungle making it feel like a scene right out of a movie. As you walk along the jungle-lined beaches you will see a variety of wildlife like monkeys, sloths, parrots and toucans. Over ninety-nine percent of the coastal land in Costa Rica is protected by maritime zones, which prohibit construction within 200 meters of the high tide mark guaranteeing unspoiled beaches for years to come.

Rain Forests– Approximately twenty-five percent of Costa Rica is made up of protected national parks and rainforests and you will find five percent of the world’s biodiversity in these parks and forests. Corcovado National Park in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica is reputed to be the most biodiverse place on the planet.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetables– The lush terrain, along with an abundance of sun and rain, makes for a wide variety of exotic crops including; pineapple, papaya, mango, avocado, bananas, plantains, mangosteen, star fruit, guanabana, pejibayes and mamón chinos. Roadside stands offer fresh produce at very reasonable prices.

The Wildlife– As you go about your daily routine in Costa Rica you will see monkeys, sloths, racoons, lizards geckos and iguanas casually going about their daily business. Playa Tortuga, just minutes from Ojochal, is home to Reserva Tortuga, non-profit biological research and education center that performs biological research and science based conservation management. They are known for their important work in preserving turtle eggs and releasing the hatchlings to the sea. They welcome the public to the releases, an experience you will never forget.

Bird Watching– Costa Rica has approximately nine hundred species of birds including fifty-four species of hummingbirds. Some of the most recognizable are the glorious scarlet macaws, frequently seen along the Southern Zone beaches, toucans with their unique and brightly colored beaks and a wide variety of parrots.

Eco-Tourism– With plans well along the way to becoming carbon neutral, eco-tourism and sustainable lifestyles are popular in Costa Rica. Pura Vida– And last, but far from least, is the Pura Vida attitude and lifestyle Literally translated the phrase means pure life; however, it is much more than that, it is a way of life.
